FAQ For Your Wiki
Just fill this with questions you think your visitors might have, as well as the answers
Rs. 1000 - is this enough money? I'm not sure!
Yes it is not enough money. But this is what tests your creativity, your guts, stress management etc. Here are some ideas: Hitch hike in lorries, try to convince villagers to let you stay in their house for free, try to find alternate transport (dubious methods of traveling in public transport :P), make money on the way by doing some small work, dance on the road and put a cloth down to collect money :P... and if all else fails beg.
Will there be a prize attached?
If there are sponsors yes, otherwise we would look into other means for rewarding the efforts.
Why should I do it if there is no prize?
You do it for the fun, traveling to locations which you would have otherwise never done in your life. Do things which you never thought you can do before. And the memories associated with it which you can keep talking for ever and ever. And the learnings.
Is there any number of limit in the number of participants?
As far it is a even number we have no problem with it.
What kind of participants are you aiming at?
We have no restriction on this.We are basically looking at people who wanna have fun and also who wanna meet strangers.
To bunk 10 working days to participate in this is impossible. Can't this be made into a one week event?
It is high time we stopped dumbing down events to get more people. We aren't looking forward to organizing this event, the lesser the better for us. But if you are really interested join us for a week, cut your trip short to say 5 destinations and get back to work. Remember this is not a competition, it is an honest challenge that you are taking up for fun.
If you travel from Bangalore to Mumbai the trip would take 24hrs and farther on the duration of travel itself is more. When of the duration if most time is spent on travel then one cannot visit good number of locations.
So, what would happen is guys in South India would be roaming around South Indian villages, people from North would be confined to only their region. This also acts as a medium to encourage people to travel all over India.
Also if you are really interested and can't take two weeks off your work, then you can participate in the Make Your Trip 2, which is a one week event during the Christmas vacation.
Language is a big problem. How do I manage?
If you can speak only Hindi then touring South India can be a problem. But thats the challenge. Learn some basic words from friends. Another idea for this concept is also to learn & understand the culture of different places in India. If you still feel you cant take up this challenge then dont do it.
What all can I carry?
1. Food, yes if you can carry and tug it along to places go ahead.
2. Mobile phones. But in some places there might be no signal.
3. Extra cash. Of course not to be used.
4. Camera, video camera. But be careful, some places they can loot it from you. In certain places, seeing camera's can mean more price for travel also!
5. Pocket knives, torches. Carry some salt, places like Kerala if you get into jungle there could be leeches.
6. Ciggarettes. If you want to carry liquor be careful, not for only because of border checking it can also break during travel. No other drugs, please.
7. Water bottles. If you run out of bottle, buying them also comes under Rs.1000/- which means you lose some money on travel.
8. Matchboxes. Incase you are in a place where you are camping and want to make bonfire.
9. Medicines. Carry common medicines for fever, cold, vomitting and other.
What if I run out of cash?
Use the extra money and return to your Starting Destination from where ever you are. Be a sport.
How to ensure people don't cheat and use the extra cash?
We are working on this.
What I should & should not do?
1. Respect the culture of the places you are visiting.
2. Do not discuss politics. Try to stay away from this as much as possible.
How to ensure I visited all the 10 destinations.
1. Photographs.
2. Videos.
Why these 10 destinations?
These were chosen considering in mind how much is the distance to be covered. We decided to cover block by block so we try to reach almost the end of India and move up. Which is why there are three places in TN & Kerala, while only two from Karnataka & AP.
Where all can I start from?
Its of course your choice. But for all logistics purpose it would be great if you choose either one of the three below as your starting points.
1. Hydrebad
2. Bangalore
3. Chennai
Would I get t-shirts?
Yes, you might. We are working on this. But you need to pay for your t-shirt.
What after the race?
Nothing much will happen. We will share all video's and photograph's. Planning is underway for a get together a week after the event.
Answer as many questions as you feel necessary
